Designer request for twoism.org new style on phpBB3

Post by Aesthetics »

Fellow twoismers,

It's about time to upgrade the forum software to phpBB3. It is inevitible to upgrade from phpBB2 to phpBB3 without redesigning the style of this board. There is a possibility to copy and extend the current style to fit phpBB3, but the setup would be totally different. Why not take this opportunity to redesign twoism.org?

There have been a few attempts already but nothing serious happened so far.

What I need is someone or a duo with:
  • Design skills
  • Preferably some programming skills (not that important)
  • Preferably phpBB3 knowledge (not that important)
  • Spare time! (I'm available for chatting from 8pm till 10pm CET on weekdays)
Please show some work if you are seriously interested in creating a phpBB3 style from scratch. Keep in mind that you have to do all designing like little buttons, logos and background.

Awesome. Can't wait for the final product. I'd try to help, but I'm not at all familiar with phpBB3. And I haven't been programming for 6 or 7 years now. Man, I can't believe it's been that long. Anyways, I'm exited for the new twoism.org.

Nice! But will this new update require us to reregister? It would suck to have to reregister.

Also a simmilar question would be, will all the old threads remain? It might not be the same without them. I think you mentioned that space was getting tight a while ago, do you plan to kull the old topics or anything?

well you could probably dump a couple gigs worth of redundant new album spec threads from the last 5 years or so

on a more serious note, i'm all for the switch, as long as it doesn't look anything as awful as that demo!

I'm meaning to import the old database so all members and posts will remain.

@zeitgeist: That's why I need a designer! ;)
I do prefer a centered board like this one. Now someone should build a nice design around it.

I wish I was finishing my 2nd year of graphic design and not my first year... I'd have known plenty of PHP and html/css by then :)

So it's only the PHP and html/css knowledge that's holding you back? This is knowledge isn't necessary to create a design ;) If you have any ideas, feel free to create a draft and show it to me.

well, I mean. I can't design, I literally cannot design, but I have good html/css/php knowledge. I won't have time for another 6 weeks or maybe more though, but after this time if someone would like to design the site e.g. in Photoshop or another design program of their choice, I could PROBABLY program it. I'd like to register myself as last choice though as I have very little experience with phpbb3 themes and would therefore probably take rather a long time to complete it hahaha (:

I think it would be cool, but unfortunately I only meet the second and last requirements :(

But yeah, this is exciting :)

When I get back from my 24 hour marathoning session with my friend/work/a nice well deserved sleep, I'm going to do a lot of brainstorming for this :)

I don't have nearly enough time to design a full site, but I'd defs be down to help out if needed. I've got programing and web design experience, and I know phpbb really well (if thats what the site is going to continue using)
