So I'm posting this for my own sanity, since I have my own hated tracks as well, to see exactly which tracks are so awful to everybody. I've got all three tapes and am going to give each a small listen and list which ones I'm unimpressed by. I can recall off hand thinking Vol 2 was generally much more different sounding and not as likable as Old Tunes and the 35 track tape, but we'll see... I'm leaving out stuff like Light Clean Hair since they obviously don't count btw.
A Few Old Tunes:
d
P.C - Wow, I don't even remember this track
Trapped - I only discovered that this wasn't a gangster song a few months ago. I remember my first impression being surprised BoC was into rap music haha. I've known them for their non-lyrical stuff though, so I don't really like this one much. I like Midas Touch though...
The Way You Show - just nonsense really.
I Love U - same opinion as the track before it.
Old Tunes Vol. 2:
Nine-Rubber Wisdom - It's not too bad, it didn't need those vocals. I could see it going another direction and being much better.
David Came To Mahana'im - This could really take off on a dance floor where people dance mindlessly to whatever is playing. Both that and the fact it doesn't really go anywhere just make it hard to want to sit through the whole thing.
Sir Prancelot Brainfire - No comment really.. I'm impressed at how authentic they sound for making TV Themes though =p
35 Track Tape:
side a audiotrack 7 - feels like an interruption to a great flow of music until then.
side b audiotrack 05 - very awesome at first, but then it becomes exactly like the track above, where it just keeps going before you start to notice it's going to keep going like this.
side b audiotrack 19 - same recurring pattern, it's not really a catchy melody, it just keeps going and is a whole mess of sound that you want to end.
That's about it. Looking back I'm surprised at how good Vol. 2 is, thought I remembered that being the one with a considerable amount of bad ones. Guess I really haven't heard these again in a bit. All the rest of the tracks though, I can't imagine BoC without them. Some of them are some of the most excellent pieces of music I've heard, and I really mean that.
So everyone list for me, what tracks make you generally dismiss these "unreleased" releases? And feel free to practically list all tracks, just so long as any single one isn't to your liking. I want to see what exactly makes some of this stuff not too favorable to some people.[/b]
