Recommendations for modern classical/ambient/experimental

Good evening, twoism -

Does anyone have any recommendations for modern classical/ambient/experimental music along the lines of Clem Leek, Nils Frahm, and A Winged Victory For The Sullen?

I have been immersing myself in this sort of instrumental, minimal, ambient/classical stew recently and enjoying myself immensely.

yes, i have a few, directly related to your choices above...
Rafael Anton Irisarri, Benoit Pioulard, and Orcas. They kind of all blend together recently, as Raf and Benoit ARE Orcas. anyway, they are very good and Benoit was touring with Winged Victory last year.

mexicola, i seriously love stars of the lid. i forgot to mention that. i love how music for nitrous oxide was done on a four-track... reminds me of, well, my own recording methods.

Also, what Johan Johnasson do you recommend Headphone Commute? I had a Swedish girlfirend who loved his work but this was about 5 years ago and I wasn't really into that sort of stuff at the time.

Mexicola pretty much has it. Check out pretty much anything involving Adam Wiltzie (SOTL, Aix Em Klemm, The Dead Texan, AWVFTS) and you should be satisfied. By the way, in case I have yet to beat this horse to death, I just saw A Winged Victory live this weekend, If you get the opportunity to catch them live don't miss it!

I've got into it just recently and read up about him, he seems to carry this ongoing theme about death through his music. Very sad and melancholic.

Nobody has mentioned Pan American or Labradford yet.

or you could go for the more classical end like Steve Reich, Arvo Part, and Terry Riley.

If you want something REALLY ambient, give William Basinski's monolithic "Disintegration Loops" a spin. Great stuff, but bring your patience. Also, from personal experience, it''s not the kind of thing you want to listen to with your "normal" friends.

If this doesn't reach deep into the heart, nothing does. One of my favourite modern classical artists. He perfectly combines electronica with violins etc. <3

I can wholeheartedly recommend Machinefabriek to all of you who like their modern classical with a bit of noise and dirt and/or their noise with a bit of modern classical.

He's extremely prolific, yet always with high quality results, and most of his work is based on edited recordings from his life performances. This guy can coax out such rich and subtle textures out of a single guitar and a few stompboxes, it's ridiculous!
