I'm not so sure about that last bit. Maybe I'm just getting old? I just don't seem to get it anymore.

Still, each to their own I guess. I'll exercise my right to jog on to another topic I think. Play nicely you crazy kids...

That's the same feeling I have. We've been here for too long and see the board repeat itself over and over again. There is a growing group of oldies which react more and more agitated.
The question in this case is: Should the oldies adapt to the newbies or the newbies to the oldies...? Or should we steer a middle course?

Good question. I'm hoping there's room for both.

I guess the natural reaction is to kick against the change, but as I said - we've all got the choice to just move on to the next topic.

I realise I'm a boring old git but there is no right or wrong in this I guess? I've just always enjoyed coming here because it doesn't feel like every other message board out there - ie. we don't have a plethora of annoying kids flaming and talking garbage for the sake of it. But then, who's to say that's better? :D

And Family_Photo_Album - for what it's worth I thought your song titles were pretty funny fella

Amazing. How about participating by creating a topic worthy of your degree. If there is truly nothing more to be said, lock this forum and keep the other two open.

You sound like an ant waiting around for the aphids. You have the ability to steer the dicussions any way you see fit. This is communication, the real joy of these boards, and the only reason anyone "new" would join, to connect with someone live about what they love.

And Aesthetics, you have it here so easy. BoC, being a nexus of so many things in the world, delivers a wide range of interesting people with so many things to talk about. For free. It is not a chore to administrate this place. You have locked a thread (and reopened it) this week. Embrace every new join and every new post. Its a kind of miracle!

You are not old but jaded. Bored. As PS might have said, "Look Around You". Think of something vital and raise the bar around here. Even though just chatting with anyone in a BoC bath is enough for me, and a thrill to see new people freak out about the Band, you can do your part too by climbing out of your tree and throwing that aromatic branch that can (apparently) only be found at the top, on the campfire the rest of us are sitting and bullshitting around.

I'll revisit the material and see if I can find a new angle or thesis for a thread here. That might ignite a discussion that might excite the imagination. But I'm content with bullshit. :D

Please don't take it personally Dave. My post wasn't about one person or one post. More a commentary about the board's evolution I guess?

I'm not so precious to think my view is any more important (or any better) than someone with 3 posts and the cellophane still on the floor from their copy of Geogaddi. If anything, I'd argue their opinion is more valid than mine. I'm just saying the humour sometimes passes me by these days. That's all. As I said in my second post, I hope there is room for all of us here?

i think were all just a little pissed that there has been no real news in ages. it seems like its just rumor after rumor.

i know boards of canada aren't your regular band but who else leaves their fans in the dark for this long?

I've been here for a while now too and have read every kind of topic that has to do with BoC that has been posted. From a "What's your favorite BoC song" to the "When is the new album coming out" type of threads. It does get old, and it makes this section of the board a bit a of a bore and redundant. But I think that everyone just want's something new from BoC and it's getting on everyone's nerves. And it makes the old members of this forum a little annoyed when the fanboys come on here posting repeat topics cause they are too lazy to do a search. Or they are just immature and make stupid topics about senseless crap that isn't funny. Not because you're making fun of what's going on, but just because it's just lame and not funny. It's shit we have all read before. It's like reading a bad book over and over again. But the internet should be free! So, although I do not agree with a lot of what goes on here, it's all up to the MODS!

There are a lot of good people on here that have stuck with this board for a long time.... And a lot of good people who have left or post less and less because of the repeat topics and the lack of any real news. Sucks because back in 2005 (I was under a different user name) this place was jumping with great topics! When this new album comes out, we will see some of those great topics come back. I hope.

PEACE

well said. i wasn't a member of this forum when TCH came out, but I did browse. From time to time I see old threads from 05 and 06 resurrected and it reminds me of less boring times. haha.

all of this stuff has been said so many times over. but i think for the most part the new members that come on here are alright. it doesnt really bug me when i see another "favorite boc song" or any other repeated topic. i usually just pop in and see what the new comments are. i agree that some times the posts can be lame. but i also agree with dave that it can be fun to see new reactions to this music. either way, it's no skin off my back.

i think the oldies and the newbies should be able to get along just fine. if a thread is boring, don't bother. thats what i do.

I'm not sure if the direction of this thread, which seems to focus now on "disturbed by newbies posts", is caused by me but that's not what my intention was. I closed the topic mainly because a few members posted annoyed reactions to the rumour. We've been through that before and we always calm down or close a topic to keep the atmosphere alright. Since we have mdg as a mod I don't hesitate to close a topic which looks like a rumour.

Keep in mind that we do this to keep the section reliable as much as possible.

Rumours don't bother me that much. Mocking them can be part of the forum.
Whenever there's a legit great news, it's sticked up the top anyway.

Or maybe you could create a "Bullshit" symbol for the side of the topics list

I respect the MOD's opinions because they are the ones who keep this site running. Do what you feel is right. You never failed in the past. I think Twoism is a great place, filled with great people with great ideas and great talents. I hope this year brings more great things to this forum.
