how the hell did i miss this thread?

something i've been enjoying a whole bunch lately is Count Ossie & The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. If you're a drummer you should get well into the hefty rhythm section: some quality nyabinghi-style drumming plus a pretty jazzy upright bass goin on here.

Ofcourse Bob marley, damian marley, lee perry and the earlier stuff of Thievery Corporation.
Thievery Corporation is really good, making lounge, and a bit of reggae with it. Especially The richest man in Babylon and The Cosmic game are kind of reggae like.

So I kinda recommend Thievery Corporation to any reggae fan, especially the 2 albums above, the newer albums are less reggae and more lounge/chillout.

Get the album 'Dub Side of the Moon' by Easy Star All Stars.

Yes, you are correct. A complete rendition of Pink Floyd's DSOTM in the reggae style. SO tight to chill to.

A dubplate is an acetate test pressing, which doesn't last long - maybe 50 plays. An artist can have a dubplate made up to give to sound systems or djs - it's more exclusive than a vinyl pressing.
