It's the percussion that really sounds BoC...especially towards the end. The vocal samples sound like Christ, and i'm guessing it's probably a Christ track.

Yeah...i thought the same. It sounds similar to some of the tracks on Christ's 'Pylonesque e.p', which would also explain why the melody and the beats sound so similar to BoC.

That's 'Molfsee' by Ulrich Schnauss. It's the last track on his 'Far Away Trains Passing By' album.

Great track (and album) but definitely not BoC or Christ.

i am betting that this will easily go down as BOC's least critically acclaimed release. its like they built up an ample amount of hype of this thing and I am quite let down. who cares about the freaking red moon party.

i am betting that this will easily go down as BOC's least critically acclaimed release. its like they built up an ample amount of hype of this thing and I am quite let down.

I must say I am quite disappointed too. Perhaps a few more listens will improve things. I guess they'll never be anything else to touch ABPOITC or High Scores. Both those offerings contained some simply sublime music. I love them both enormously.

Best thing for me on this new release is the Dayvan Cowboy Remix, quite like that actually, and Left Side Drive too, kind of has some nice old-school BOC touches, esp. the synth sounds.

Still, at least there's the free DVD to look forward to in the post.

I'll admit that at first I was underwhelmed... but I felt that way originally with Campfire as well.

I think the Odd Nosdam mix leaves much to be desired (although it's an interesting headphone listen in some places) but the four new tracks are great boards tracks, imo. You just got to let 'em percolate for a while. Hell, I remember not knowing what to think about Geogaddi or Music Has the Right either when I first got them. All BoC releases seem to just grow and grow on me..

i never been disapointed with any BoC album on first listen. not even headphase. although i must say chromakey dreamcoat threw me a curveball first time i heard it.

Anyway, given time I know I'll enjoy it more, it always works out that way.

I guess I was spoilt early on when I first discovered BOC. To me their music was, and still is, a magical thing. I was truly seduced and transported to a beautiful, mysterious, and sometimes unsettling place by their music. More so when I knew nothing about the creators of the music.

To me it almost seemed as if I had chanced upon a buried tape reel, deep beneath the ground, of which I had no prior knowledge or experience, and there I was, listening to it for the first time, as if it had been created especially for me. That's how personal their music felt to me. No other music has ever come close to the feeling their music created in me.

It's hard to get that feeling from this new stuff, including some of the material on Campfire, but I suppose it's impossible given all I now know. To me there's too much distance in some of the new stuff, it's difficult to put into words.

One more thing. It's worth knowing that I play BOC every day of the week, unless I am physically unable to.

What I really like about this release is that all 4 new tracks have the same feel to them, "Glacial" as they put it. It seems like the tracks on Campfire jump around a bit. Like they go from happy and uplifting to sad and dark. I loved the way Geogaddi flowed together, and this reminds me quite a lot of that. Even the remix has that isolated feel to it, even though it's no where near as good as the previous 4 tracks. Despite it's short length I seriously can't find 1 flaw from LSD through UTCS.
