taking valerian root pills after a hard night of drinking always gives me some crazy dreams.Phasen wrote:I wish I had seen this earlier.
About 1 hour before your bedtime, start consuming all of this:
50mg of Vitamin B6
1mg of Melatonin
Then buy some sort of sedative tea with Valerian, Hops, Catnip, Chamomile, etc in it. The more of those the better.
Then avoid alcohol, other substances, and sleep. It doesn't work everytime. But- do that everynight for a few days and you'll quickly accumulate some pretty interesting full colour, in control, memories of active dreaming.
I would really like to lucid dream.

i can vouch for this. combinations of those ingredients (skullcap, too) offer a deeper sleep, with the occasional lucid dream. recommended dosages of melatonin and valerian are usually enough. i was an insomniac throughout my adolescence, and it wasn't until an herbologist in my area recommended valerian that i finally got a full night's sleep.Phasen wrote:About 1 hour before your bedtime, start consuming all of this:

there are a number of herbal sleep supplements on the market with the above ingredients (available almost anywhere that sells diet supplements, now). however, tea can be more of a sensory experience compared to gelcaps. not to mention, you can take valerian and melatonin along with tea, too.
Yogi Tea offers an organic tea called Egyptian Licorice that is very tasty (if you enjoy anise/licorice flavor). it's very relaxing and puts me into a lucid state, before bedtime. valerian tea also has a nice 'flowery' flavor, but many are put off by it's odor. otherwise, nothing beats sleepytime tea.
if you decide to take valerian capsules, make sure the bottle says it's a 'standardized extract.' the 'whole herb' variety tends to give me headaches the day after.

Guess what I had Last Night!
Yep. I was dreaming about typing Arcade Fire on google and They had a new album out called Motion City Silence. I was looking at an article and I scrolled down, then scrolled up againg and the artist name changed from Arcade Fire to Paranomia. I felt like something was fishy, then all of the sudden I was sinking into my bed and everything went really slow for a second or two. Then I was back in the dream and lucid! I was ecstatic. I ran out my bedroom window and started flying really fast up into the gray clouds and It was very exhilarating, but then I got too excited and woke up. That was about one of the best expiriences I've ever had!

I just remembered; last night I had a very short but extremely lucid dream. Probably the first since I was a child, and certainly the first since I have been aware of the concept of lucid dreaming. In the dream I was in an old university hallway and suddenly became aware that I was dreaming.
The astounding part is the clarity with which I stopped myself and thought to myself - how to experience a lucid dream once you become aware that you are dreaming! I figured that the best way would be to fly, so I did - I flew shortly through the old hall and my boyfriend was at the end of the passage - I wanted to see if his expressions in the dream were accurate, so I flew up close and watched as my own memories described him perfectly, as if I was accessing layers and layers of subconscious visual memory. Then I suddenly saw myself from his perspective... and that's when I lost it. I froze, not knowing what to do next, and felt my eyes open - this was at 5am, and I'm recalling it now, 24 hours later.
I want to do this again!

Awesome
I guess I could've mentioned my lucid dream from about a week ago-- but it's rather stupid and disturbing and it was sort of half lucid... haha. I've been out of it, mentally, for quite some time, so I don't have that much control over mental fluctuation. When I was fondling with this one girl's face, the face kept turning gradually more disgusting, and I couldn't stop it. I kept rubbing the face in the hope that it would turn beautiful again, but it just became face soup... it was horrible.
But for me, generally I get a lucid dream once a month :/ just depends really. For the most part, from false awakenings is my primary induction of a lucid dream. I end up in some silly situations mid-dream because of that though, but for the most part my dreams are somewhat stable :s
Lucid dreaming is great when it happens. My personal resource is also dreamviews.com
I think in total now I've had about 14 lucid dreams in the past year-ish... some of them unsubstantial though. I haven't really had much time to try. My dream recall has been absolutely terrible lately as well.
Nevertheless I have over 450 pages of dreams written down from one year of keeping a dream journal =] very happy about that.

Don't give up yet man. It took me a while before I could lucid dream. But now I can. I usually have 2 per week. But it took me a LONG time to be able to get into it. Keep at it, because it's definitely worth it in the end.Synthestesia wrote:Oh my god! I can't do it! I just can't. I've tried really hard for the past week or so. I tried inductions, binuaral beats, some techniques where you look at your hand, and a bunch of other stuff. I give up, AGAIN.

That's really awesome, to be so closely connected with the dream world is a real gift
I know some people who sometimes get up to 6 LD's a night (O__O) truly spectacular to be able to do.
Once summer rolls around I'm going to get a setup going, some speakers with ambient music to make me as sleepy as possible, and a one beep alarm to wake myself up (hopefully) in the middle of a REM cycle so I can return to it with knowledge of what's going on.
I haven't had a lucid dream for a couple months now, I'd like to have some more for sure :l

One of the most amazing dream I've ever had has been a lucid one... then again I've had countless amazing non-lucids x__x
I had the oddest sensation I'd ever felt in a dream a couple weeks ago,
In the dream I was in my classroom, in a situation where all aspects were believable, so I believed what was going on was real. Therefore I might have been self aware in the dream even if I didn't know I was actually dreaming.
I guess the only real thing I can relate the sensation to is the onset of a really big hit of highness all at once. I was sitting in class and there was this small black dot I could see past my feet. It was cast over everything I could see, like it was some sort of sticker on my eyeball, though in the same position at all times. And when moving my head around the perspective didn't match anything on that would indicate it was on the floor.
It was a black hole, and everything in the classroom stopped dead, everyone frozen, tunnel vision was induced and that feeling of exploding highness, where everything is numb and agoraphobic (well, for me, which is why I don't do that often). I could feel a tight squeezing on my body, as though I was rubber but still with a substantial amount of tension. I could see more black dots off in the distance also forming. It was frightening, seeing the classroom slowly dissolve into whiteness and blackness with everyone remaining as they were. I could feel my eyeballs melting, I was barely able to look around but I managed to look towards my feet--
It was the most incredible thing I'd ever witnessed in a dream-- something more vivid than I could probably get in any lucid dream, because I legit thought this was happening and it felt completely real. I saw the earth with a big chunk missing in the area under me-- it gave me the feeling one might get if they were swimming in the middle of the ocean and could see the bottom. Only of course like 100 times deeper; unfathomable large, let's just say. I mean we take for granted the relative size of the moon, despite the gigantic space between us.
The core of the earth was oozing out like caramel, and the plates and crust weren't even crumbling, they were just being pulled apart and into a fine sand as it twirled around the orbit of the black holes. There were nebulae in the background, apparently our sun had exploded, and this was all happening within a matter of seconds, however my mind depicted everything in slow motion.
Definitely the most powerful and vivid moment I'd ever experienced in a dream. Beyond anything.
SO yeah, actual lucidity in something like that-- having been able to get out of my melting state and to do something, would have been amazing. =)

Once you get used to it's easy i think, but it could just be me lol, music is a great way to lucid,i do this sometimes when i return from work, just lay down and put a cd on and off i go! The best feeling for me is the buzz feeling and you will hear this aswell,it's almost like dropping out of yourself, also make sure know one disturbs you!! And don't move!! Just relax and focus on your eyelids, this is where i start to make the colours and pictures start to appear, then it's go go lucid.I wont rub it in but i was in and out of my dream 3 time this morning before work!! I just keep hitting the snooze button and enter the dream again! Ive always found it funny how some people find this hard to do.Spenner wrote:That's really awesome, to be so closely connected with the dream world is a real giftI know some people who sometimes get up to 6 LD's a night (O__O) truly spectacular to be able to do.

This is strange, I read this topic yesterday and went to bed some time later. I just recalled I had a lucid dream last night, probably due to reading about your experiences. I can't remember it exactly but I was somewhere outside and passed a building or something else, then I looked behind me and the building (or whatever I saw) was gone. Thus I realized, I MUST be dreaming now. If I hadn't read this topic I wouldn't have realized that. I occasionally have this type of lucid dreams and without exception I always panic, because to me the realization that I'm sleeping and dreaming and the feeling that I'm "trapped" in my dream is quite unsettling, so I always intentionally start making spastic movements with my body in my lucid dreams so my body in the "real world" starts moving too and I wake up. Interesting though.

i had the second lucid dream of my entire life last night and it was absolutely shocking and amazing. I won't describe it as I'm a little ashamed at what I for some reason chose to instantly do with my new-found temporary capability at no-penalty behavior. It was fun, and I was fully aware of what was going on, but in a strange way.
I will say that I've discovered my perfect lucid-cue though. I have noticed over the last several months that when I'm dreaming and am trying to run/being chased my legs feel like molasses. It literally will feel like I am trying to run full speed up to my waist in water, you know? Well I've had several conversations about it lately, and it happened in my dream last night again. I was reaching for a door handle or whatever and trying to run real fast, and my legs just weren't letting me go faster than like 1/2mph. Instantly recognized what was going on, and the rest was history. Fucking incredible experience though, really, kinda scary even.
The only other time was stranger but shorter. Several years ago I "woke up", rolled over and saw my digital clock by my bed said something like "3:84". It was also on the wrong side of my bed where the wall normally is. I instantly realized I was still dreaming then too, got up slowly and walked into the hallway where there was a floor-to-ceiling mirror. I had no reflection and tried to take a step through it, woke up immediately. Very weird too, but not as much control as I had last night, that's for sure.
I'm not sure I could get into this as I'd probably develop a complete obsession and lose touch with reality......

Well, I did that the first and almost only time I had a lucid dream. Had it one more time, and that time I went flying
