Aesthetics: Are you envisioning this as a pro bono service, or do you have a budget for design?

Nope, I don't have a budget available. Why? Are you interested in creating something?

I have a design degree, but I do mostly simple print work - not web stuff. I will play around with some ideas and let you know if I have anything to contribute.

The new design should be a different color than blue, just my 2 cents.

Nope Polar. In the meantime I'm trying to create something myself.

I really thought there would've been a few volunteers for this.

I thought there would have been some more volunteers also.

You might get more interest if you were to describe all the tasks that have to be done.
Perhaps if you were able to assign off some smaller parts to different people it would be less of a pressure on any one person. I must admit im not entirely sure of all that is required, im a C++ programmer myself, I dont have any experience of web programming.

I hope you get some help soon, it seems a shame to just leave you to get on with it.

You got a point there Pantheon.

Let's skip the programming stuff to make it a lot easier. I guess it's best to use this site as an example. Imagine that this forum needs a restyle. All buttons need to be redesigned as well as all the frames, header, footer and background. In short, everything besides the setup. This is basically what will happen but with a phpBB3 based forum.

I have a decent looking forum ready but now I need a designer who can make it look pretty unique.

So should I use the current twoism as a template?

I think it would be really cool to invite the use of skins, if I get really into this idea I'm thinking of, I'd want to possibly make a Geogaddi skin, MHTRTC skin, Trans Canada skin... depending how much work it is for each :) dunno, I'll probably start with the Geogaddi one as default I suppose, maybe it's a good idea

It might now be all that much work really. A change in colour schemes/images used for the banner would probably do wonders to get that album feeling going.

I'm not sure, should I post WIPs here? I've started working on the Geogaddi themed idea.

The only thing is, I'm not 100% sure what major changes will happen between the old and new php labout. So for now I'm modelling it after this site to get an idea :)

Also, I hope more join in on this!

Spenner, don't use this template as an example. I'll contact you right away for details.

Just out of curiosity Ae... What is wrong with the site as it is now? I really like the look and feel of it.

But I guess a change would be good. I really wish I could help.

There isn't anything wrong with it but it's getting outdated.

phpBB3 is much more efficient, hack proof and offers a lot of advantages for the crew and the users.

That's the same procedure I used for the bocpages theming:

I wonder if we'll touch on php in my cource at school... I'm becoming really familiar with HTML/CSS but no php so far.

If I wasn't absolutely drained of free time I'd help you guys out 3: I'm becoming a better designer by the day otherwise though. Lots of practice being had. Almost too much @__@

I'm willing to help out with any server-side development that needs to be done (such as PHP). I cannot design things at all, so I can't help out with that.

Also I don't mean to be harsh and this certainly isn't about anyone specifically, but

People apparently have a lot of time to BROWSE the forum but not a single person has time to design it? Surely not everyone is a designer, but there obviously are a lot of visually creative people here given the success of the artwork/photography threads. I recently made some statistics of the general speculation topic and within a timespan of a year there have been 218 unique posters in that topic alone, and many more on the forum in its entirety. Surely one of you must have both the time and skills to design a forum? I doesn't have to be an epic, mind-blowing multimedia sensation, it's just a forum layout. It would be nice if we could all try to support this happy little forum with the means at our disposal, so if you have some skills and time (which not every has, understandably), consider giving your support to it.

Again this isn't aimed at someone specifically nor at the designers on this board as a group, it just surprises me like everyone else that as of yet no one has stood up and agrees to spend a couple of hours on something that will be beneficial for all of us.
