i agree.
the fact that congress is now a career instead of a.. one-time thing kinda screws things up too.
rather than do things for the greater good, they just do whatever will get them re-elected (or at least.. not run out of office)
example: things like welfare and unfunded liabilities like social security need to be cut back a good deal. but, if you are a congressman or woman and your district is mainly an inner-city sort of thing, due to the nature of the inner-city (seeing as that's where MOST of the voter base probably lives, as the population density will be very high), welfare is going to be the LAST thing you want to cut.
so, regardless of the fact that it'd be for the best to start to cut back things like welfare, if you want to keep your job..
