noby, I'm just curious since you're the most vocal one here so far about your opinion, what do you think of side b audiotrack 02? Something about that one has always made it one of my most appreciated tracks on these tapes. That one and side b audiotrack 11, which I see you at least like that one.
Hmm I don't know how but I seem to have missed this one one because I should've mentioned track 17 (my files are just labeled as numbers 1-35). I don't have much to comment on this one really because it's pretty uneventful but those chords are unteresting in the least. Not a great track but a good one.

Track b-11 or track 26 as I have it, well. I don't really like it. First problem for me are the drums. To me they just aren't fitting, and that's largely the case with a lot of these songs on the compilations. They were just experimenting, and while it's interesting to hear, most tracks just don't capture me. But to get back to the track itself, I can see where they were going with that melody but doesn't work for me. Not a bad song but not my taste really I guess.

Thanks to this thread I got around at least partially re-listening to these compilations and it made me realize these tracks aren't nearly as bad as I had remembered. I used to hate these to be honest but I think appreciate them now a bit more :)

Some of the tracks on the tapes are the best things BoC has done. Maybe not technically, but musically.

Hiscores is just incredible. One of my favourites ever. Same with Staircase Whip; it's produced really badly, but it is amazing stuff. Orange Hexagon Sun, BMX Track, Sac, Mukinabaht... there's a lot of shit on the tapes, but come on.

Listening to side b track 04 of the 35 track tape, I noticed it sounds pretty similar to the first 20~ seconds of the Would You Like To Be Free snippet that's out there. It plays almost the exact same chords. Could be a result of the songs just being the same key though. Anyone else notice it?

Probably not a big deal..

I noticed it too, though to me it sounds more like the TCH stuff, mainly Dayvan Cowboy. But now that you mention it does sound a lot like Wouldn't You Like Be Free... I don't think it's the same chord progression, but yes it is somewhat similar. Maybe it IS the 'Numerator' track off Play By Numbers, lenghts match kinda but honestly who knows, this is just useless speculation.

(Wouldn't You Like Be Free..? Bah, more like 'wouldn't you like to hear this whole track'.)

I like pretty much all of them, and all of them sound are as good to me as the rest of their stuff, so I'm pretty much in agreement with you Gevel. :)

I mostly love them all, some of those "scary" sounding tracks (David Came to Ma-whatever) I usually skip, but I love mostly all of the tracks, they sound so old school and really paint that 8mm imagery well in my head.

STAIRCASE WHIPPP

Also, Iced Cooly Beatnik gives me this wicked cool chill feeling for some reason. I wish it was longer... does ANYONE know what the song they used for it is (unless of course they made the little riff themselves...)???

Can't blame you there, that one gets sort of obnoxious.

Anyone have all the old tunes uploaded somewhere? I'd like them with their proper names and in correct order.

Click on rareboc. You can also find all three live bootlegs (although each is just one mp3 file that's about an hour long).

with that said. it hurts me to see some of the songs mentioned, such as northern plastics, powerline misfortune, and i will get it tattooed. be mentioned

the old tunes tapes are all pretty outstanding if you ask me. in my opinion, old tunes vol.2 is pretty much perfect from beginning to end. a few old tunes and 35 random tracks do have some nonsense tracks, but overall i really enjoy the music.

to stick to the thread though, ill name some of the tracks i usually skip
house of albin adab
davie addison
the way you show
i love you
m9
wendy miller
paul russels piece
up the march bank
nova scotia robots

Davie Addison? AHHHHHHHH! Don't skip that! :)

your right, after listening to it again, i enjoyed david addison.

I was completely unaware of this being the 33rd anniversary of 5/9/78. Just listened to the track by coincidence, and it's almost about to hit midnight. Looks like I made it in time
