I live in phoenix AZ - I love flag.Zeffolia wrote:korona15 wrote:Hah, that's my favorite pizza in Flagstaff. Were you touring the southwest, on the way to the Grand Canyon and Vegas? I'm happy to call Flagstaff my home, glad you stopped by. Kind of a BoCish place to liveMexicola wrote:Hey, it's no worse a theory than June 9th![]()
Visited your town back in June by the way. Had the best pizza in the World there (Fratelli's Chicago pizza - immense!)![]()

I've heard its the best time of year to be there, but unfortunately I can't take advantage of it - I'm doing an internship in Tennessee for the summer.
Flagstaff is definitely one of my favorite towns in Arizona second only to Greer. One of my plans for when the new BOC album came out was to drive up to Flagstaff and sit in the woods somewhere northwest of there I believe where all the birch trees are and listen to it on a nice cloudy day

Remember when you used to walk into music stores?Vexille wrote:It makes me nostalgic for the early 90s. Walking into the music store and going "oh dude, [band] has a new album!?"
Yep. MHTRTC came out when i was 27. At this fucking rate I'll be 50 before the next album appears. It COULD happen. where did the time go.Roygbivman wrote:Milky wrote:Ah who gives a fuck anymore. I remember when BoC songs would be a nice little treat I'd stumble across on youtube when listening to Aphex Twin or some other IDM. All this over-analysation and speculation is just nerdy, repetitive and dull now. I blame myself for coming to this site too much, and I look forward to when it just comes out randomly one day.
Having said all that, when said day arrives, I will probably explode, because they are a very good band.
And here I thought I was the only guy here approximately the Sandison's age.tsg wrote:Roygbivman wrote:Yep. MHTRTC came out when i was 27. Ahhh, thank you sir.Fredd-E wrote:"All I can say is that it was never traditional for an audience to be privy to the machinations of an artist, filmmaker, musician, or author until the internet (and specifically blog websites) were invented.Elephant Face wrote:Could you share that quote?Fredd-E wrote:That's basically what MDG said in the post he removed shortly after.
By the time Peter Jackson releases his new movies, some of his audience will have already seen much of the film on his Facebook blog and other websites.
Do any of you guys remember the days when something wonderful just appeared out of the blue, without having had it all explained away and spoiled in advance?"
You don't even need to read between the lines to see what he meant. imho. But then again he removed his post shortly after...

Haha, I did not say that. You quotes f-ed up!Integer wrote:tsg wrote:And here I thought I was the only guy here approximately the Sandison's age.Roygbivman wrote: Yep. MHTRTC came out when i was 27. Mind you, these are people that still have Motley Crue and Guns N Roses on heavy rotation in their collection.
Milky was the one who wrote the "Ahh who gives a fuck anymore" post, not Roygbivman. I think that's what he meant when he said he didn't say that. Somehow the quotes got flip-flopped.Integer wrote:Roygbivman wrote: Haha, I did not say that. You quotes f-ed up!
Huh? I was quoting tsg, who just happened to be responding to you, which is why your quote also shows up in my post. Do I really need to explain this?

That makes you unique. I wish I was in your shoes in that same respect. I really just wish I knew about BoC when they were still starting to release Twoism, but I was about...hmmm...1 YEAR OLD? Oh yes, I just came out of the womb, telling my mum to buy me the new BoC album over the IDM Mailing List.Integer wrote:tsg wrote:And here I thought I was the only guy here approximately the Sandison's age.Roygbivman wrote: Yep. Ha.
Anyways, by the time I discovered BoC's wonder, they had already released Trans Canada Highway a year before. So this entire time since then, I have spent reading, reviewing, and tracking down all I can about BoC, because I owe a lot to them. Honestly, they changed me in so many ways. Saved my life, really...
Those two brothers that I've never met saved my life.
Oh well, I'm sure a lot of other late-comers are the same way about them...just wishing they would have been born ten years earlier...or something else.
I'm babbling.

I discovered BoC back in 1999. But it was in 1995 that I (indirectly through Nine Inch Nails) followed the path that would lead to me to BoC:
NIN led me to Aphex Twin's 'I Care Because You Do', Warp Records and the whole 'IDM' genre. Then through Trent Reznor's Nothing Records I discovered Autechre's 'LP5' in 1998. After realizing that, like Aphex Twin, Autechre was on Warp (being distributed by Nothing in the US), i bought the CD. Then Warp led me to MHTRTC and the rest is history.
Nine Inch Nails is my favorite band partly because of what I discovered due to them and Nothing Records. BoC is a close second.

Sorry I got my quotes mixed up. I feel a little connection to them, I know they drank in a dodgy bar at Tollcross edinburgh a few times (burlington Berties) which was my local for a while back when i still imbibed. Dont think i ever met them though they were hazy days. I got into synths and all that as a teenager, listening to early human league albums and myself and a couple of friends did the best we could with Leith Academys school wasp synth and a couple of casios , multitracking between two casette decks (play on one record on the other). I like to think the sandisons started in a similar way. Not trying to claim anything here, but the reason I bought MHTRTC was because i read about them being fellow Edinburgers.
Anyway. There you go.

Looks like I have more in common with you than meets the eye.

Very similar story for me as well! First NIN lead to to Aphex, then mucking about on cdnow, I checked out the similar artists to Aphex Twin, saw the Twoism EP, had a listen to Iced Cooly and just about fell over! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for! For the longest time, I felt that I was meant to discover this band. I still do, but you lose sight of that when stuck in the purgatory waiting game after digesting everything they have available. Time. Is a funny thing.Rodheh wrote:dp wrote:I discovered BoC back in 1999. But it was in 1995 that I (indirectly through Nine Inch Nails) followed the path that would lead to me to BoC:

NIN was my favorite band for YEARS. I attempted to collect everything they had done (all because of those fucking Halo catalog numbers!). I kind of stopped after With Teeth though.
