Wouldn't it be crazy if way back when they first put the black box on the website, they DID make the release that same day and by horrible coincidence, no one had been to a store since??

I've heard its the best time of year to be there, but unfortunately I can't take advantage of it - I'm doing an internship in Tennessee for the summer.

Flagstaff is definitely one of my favorite towns in Arizona second only to Greer. One of my plans for when the new BOC album came out was to drive up to Flagstaff and sit in the woods somewhere northwest of there I believe where all the birch trees are and listen to it on a nice cloudy day

I live in phoenix AZ - I love flag.

Yep. MHTRTC came out when i was 27. At this fucking rate I'll be 50 before the next album appears. It COULD happen. where did the time go.

Most people my age just look at me with a blank stare when I tell them BoC is one of my favorite bands. Mind you, these are people that still have Motley Crue and Guns N Roses on heavy rotation in their collection.

That makes you unique. I wish I was in your shoes in that same respect. I really just wish I knew about BoC when they were still starting to release Twoism, but I was about...hmmm...1 YEAR OLD? Oh yes, I just came out of the womb, telling my mum to buy me the new BoC album over the IDM Mailing List.

Ha.

Anyways, by the time I discovered BoC's wonder, they had already released Trans Canada Highway a year before. So this entire time since then, I have spent reading, reviewing, and tracking down all I can about BoC, because I owe a lot to them. Honestly, they changed me in so many ways. Saved my life, really...

Those two brothers that I've never met saved my life.

Oh well, I'm sure a lot of other late-comers are the same way about them...just wishing they would have been born ten years earlier...or something else.

I discovered BoC back in 1999. But it was in 1995 that I (indirectly through Nine Inch Nails) followed the path that would lead to me to BoC:

NIN led me to Aphex Twin's 'I Care Because You Do', Warp Records and the whole 'IDM' genre. Then through Trent Reznor's Nothing Records I discovered Autechre's 'LP5' in 1998. After realizing that, like Aphex Twin, Autechre was on Warp (being distributed by Nothing in the US), i bought the CD. Then Warp led me to MHTRTC and the rest is history.

Nine Inch Nails is my favorite band partly because of what I discovered due to them and Nothing Records. BoC is a close second.

Sorry I got my quotes mixed up. I feel a little connection to them, I know they drank in a dodgy bar at Tollcross edinburgh a few times (burlington Berties) which was my local for a while back when i still imbibed. Dont think i ever met them though they were hazy days. I got into synths and all that as a teenager, listening to early human league albums and myself and a couple of friends did the best we could with Leith Academys school wasp synth and a couple of casios , multitracking between two casette decks (play on one record on the other). I like to think the sandisons started in a similar way. Not trying to claim anything here, but the reason I bought MHTRTC was because i read about them being fellow Edinburgers.

Anyway. There you go.

Very similar story for me as well! First NIN lead to to Aphex, then mucking about on cdnow, I checked out the similar artists to Aphex Twin, saw the Twoism EP, had a listen to Iced Cooly and just about fell over! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for! For the longest time, I felt that I was meant to discover this band. I still do, but you lose sight of that when stuck in the purgatory waiting game after digesting everything they have available. Time. Is a funny thing.

NIN was my favorite band for YEARS. I attempted to collect everything they had done (all because of those fucking Halo catalog numbers!). I kind of stopped after With Teeth though.
