Yup. It's really terrible. Effectively it's an entirely different band, with a different singer. I don't think their sound really clicked until the 'Strawberry Wine' single.kaini wrote:totally agree. i was very disappointed with their debut though (this is your bloody valentine). it's not just unpolished, it's rubbish.
One MBV tune that got pretty close...

It's not rubbish, what do you know? How old where you when it was released? It's not the best thing i heard, but show some respect man if yr a fan of MBV.kaini wrote:totally agree. i was very disappointed with their debut though (this is your bloody valentine). it's not just unpolished, it's rubbish.polar sky wrote:Yes they are as good! Are the others as good... because that one is classic...

Come off it. It's a terrible record! There's no shame in having an inauspicious start to a recording career. I don't much care for Sonic Youth's debut either. Even in interview the band have said that they didn't really hit their stride until Strawberry Wine and particularly You Made me Realise. They'll always have my respect for improving by several orders of magnitude from that first album.ExitEuXa wrote:It's not rubbish, what do you know? How old where you when it was released? What NO RESPECT for Sonic Youth's debut? What about that beautiful " I dreamed I dream " from their debut Sonic Youth 1982!!! You shoot be shot on sight.IanRedpoint wrote:Come off it. There is a higher quality rip of the song in 256kb if anybody is still interested.

What does it matter how old a person was when a record came out? It doesn't change the fact that you don't care for it.ExitEuXa wrote:It's not rubbish, what do you know? Sometimes age matters, i don't know that many youngsters who really listen to music like i do.polar sky wrote:What does it matter how old a person was when a record came out? It's no rip-off, do you think Kevin Shields gave it for nothing?clipped wrote:i remember back in the day kevin shields talking about a drum loop that he had come up with that madonna ripped off for "justify my love". i've long assumed this was it.YELLOW wrote:I tihnk for those of you who have not heard this My Bloody Valentine b side "Instrumental B" you may be in for a shock for the similarities to Boards Of Canada....Check out this link to hear it:

agreed with ianredpoint, instrumental A is muchos differnet from b. There is not many songs by MBV that go with instrumental B, its one in its own. although you guys could check out the 4 songs kevin shields did for the 'Lost in translation' soundtrack...you would probably enjoy them!
ps, comeon guys let not fight about first records...i bought 'this is your bloody valentine' on cd for 30 bucks and i personally enjoy it...plus sonic youth is great...and julie and candy oh man
