There is plenty of diversity in sound- of course not from your typical nothing-great-conventional-rock-band because they don't actually understand music but there is plenty of rock oriented stuff with a ton of diversity. The diversity is in the tone, the effects, the recording space, the mood, the melody, and basically anything else that comes into play while recording. Queens is a very good example of a band that explores all of these things. You need to listen for them.

Tom waits is another one.

Dude, I don't even have this opinion very firmly any more and I don't know a lot about QoTSA. Probably not a good idea to dig things up.

Anyways, if I recall I was talking more about rock music as a whole, not this particular band.

Anywho still pumped for a new Queens album- I have a feeling it's gonna be very very soon. But I'm not about to turn this into the new boc album thread.

Yeah, caught this the other day. Saw Mars Volta around ten years ago - not sure if he was drumming for them then?? Looks the business though.

Who would have thought, right? I am super excited about this new album! Having Oliveri will add some much needed chutzpah, much like I was hoping for earlier. Also, you really can't go wrong with Reznor.

Grohl was at his best on Songs... however, his performances on Killing Joke's 2003 release are also right up there. Right around the same time, too.

Not to detract from the purpose of this thread, but this song is amazing...
