Mine too. Perfect blend of comedy and poignancy. The outtakes on the DVD are priceless too... and you get to see the finished 'Coven'!

Really good list there. I've seen about half of them and now want to see the rest.

this is what i want to see next. reet bleedin' weird flick about the grim underbelly of tinseltown during the 'golden age'. any body seen it? based on the 1939 novel of the same same by nathanael west.

A brilliant documentary about the Kevin Mitnick affair. Well worth watching, even if you aren't that interested in the hacker scene.

loved American Movie, can't believe I never checked it out 'til now.

Another good lighthearted but interesting and hilarious one is The Wild Whites of West Virginia. Well worth a watch.

ha! that is a veritable cirque du freak, if i've ever seen one. you should check out 'jesco white - the dancing outlaw'. it's got its redneck hilarity but is pretty moving in parts also. well worth a look.

Something about the cheap film and the interviews and just how it's filmed is really relaxing to me for some reason. I might need to watch it again soon lol.

lol understandable, it is a real nice ending. Though I'm curious to find out how these people are doing nowadays and all that. But there seriously is something beautiful about that film...

know what you mean, think black & white works really well because it makes the dark look endless. and dj shadows stuff is kinda dark & sad. if it was shot in colour & had a different soundtrack i dont think itd even come close.

but yeah, i wonder what became of them all...x

Beautiful Losers is a great documentary for anybody interested in kinda lowbrow art / skating / punk scene

A film that just came to mind when I was thinking about that documentary is the movie 'Kids'

How to Die In Oregon

This documentary is not for the faint of heart -- it's about Euthanasia and Oregon & Washington's adoption of law allowing it.

I found a terrific folky version of In My Time of Dying through it though, by Tom Brosseau.

"Once" (2006) is a nice film. Not a spacey/Sci-fi & super-indie film at all, be careful... Rather a mellow & 'romantic' musical film... But don't depreciate these terms, lol. If you love music in general, I think that you could really enjoy this film...

"Antitrust" (2001) -

I'm no hacker, only a Linux enthusiast who - to be honest - is having a bit of trouble properly setting up an Apache server! All that aside, though, I enjoyed this film.. The soundtrack was horrible, but overall I would say that this was a worthwhile use of my time.

I really love the new Solaris.....Clint Mansell's soundtrack is just beautiful .

Tree of life was a stunning film but really heavy going tbh.

Koyaanisqatsi is by far one of the biggest visual treats you could ever have in front of a screen as well. Just mesmerising.

Echo the love for Eternal Sunshine too..........enchanting.

Oh, and I know some see it as cheesy but it absolutely isn't. The Wrestler hit chords and stirred emotions within me that really knocked me for 6.

With regards to documentaries....anything......ANYTHING about Chernobyl. I am addicted to that story and the aftermath, would love to visit Pripyat some day as from what I read, it sounds like a place that nature has taken back.

Loving to hear everyone's favourites here, going to have to smash the pie out of a few torrents

Harmony Korine was actually involved in some pretty decent cinema. Ex., Gummo. Loved that film.

Two Years At Sea by Ben Rivers went straight into my top 10 films of all time. Saw it first a couple of months ago and haven't been able to get it out of my head since.

If any fans of Werner Herzog's films are reading I highly recommend this film. Rivers' blurring of the boundaries between fiction and documentary is really Herzog(ian).

Rivers' just follows Jake (the bearded man in my avatar pic) around his remote ramshackle house in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, filming his day to day life. No dialogue, no narrative, just sublimely shot 16mm film and sound recorded on location.

Here's part of the write up on the back of the dvd slipcase:

"Jake has a tremendous sense of purpose, surviving frugally, poised somewhere between a bygone age and a post-apocalyptic future. Rivers' witty and gracefully constructed film, hand-processed in his kitchen, creates an intimate connection with an individual who would otherwise be a complete outsider to us"
