Don't want to pee on anyone's parade, but you can hear vinyl static on it... I believe Catalog 3 was only produced on cassette and then later CD, yes?

Yeah, it's definitely surface noise. I think the idea that they'd put the noise on to cover the fact that's tape is just wishful thinking.

the noise is really vynil surface and i kinda doubt that it's added just for the sake of it. so, yes, wishful thinking it is. perhaps the track is not "stowed under" but on the other hand, it might still be a track by boc that we have never known about in the first place. the "catalogue 3" catalog number is CANC19, "acid memories" is CANC27. and just look at the rest of the releases. there definitely are many more we don't know about. so, unil someone says for a fact that this track is not by boc, i'll remain convinced it is.

Going back to the internet and soulseek and all the other ones out there. I like how one song shows up and the rest of the album is lost. One song off an album just doesn't show up without the rest being there somewhere on the net. All this info about track titles and the lengths of the tracks and album art, and no songs at all that we can hear for catalog 3, acid memories, closes vol. 1, play by numbers and hooper bay? Now hooper bay had some clips floating around a page that is no longer up now, and some people have claimed to hear it. I just don't understand how all this info is up about these albums and still after years and years, nothing is on the net. I mean closes vol. 1 was re-pressed on cd in 1997! That has to be floating around somewhere, and I don't care who BoC trusts, there has to be a rat somewhere waiting to upload... Shit, Andy Soosay did it. I mean it's like holding a piece of gold, you gotta show it off sometimes, oooo look what I got! The only problem with that? Is it real? Or isn't it. Lets pray for that box set, hahaha, yeah right.

I agree. I definitely think it is out there somewhere. Whether someone should upload it though is another matter.

If I was BOC, I would certainly start think about slowly releasing back catalogue stuff over the next few years. A nice tidy earner for themselves (and Warp).

Of course, with their hesitation about it so far, it's obvious money isn't what they're after. I think they're looking to release a quality product. Perhaps they think that their old material isn't worth the time and we're not going to like a lot of it. But at the same time, a lot of BOC fans have favorite tracks from the old tunes tapes! I'm one of them. I am guessing that the stuff on these unreleased albums is actually going to be better than the stuff on these old tunes tapes so they should get on it.

I agree about the money thing but only because they are in a position where money is obviously not an issue. Look at lots of older bands that are still around today. They always end up releasing older stuff. When they can no longer be bothered with new material or have other issues/concerns/family comittments in life (apart from music), they (or their record company) usually start mining the back catalogue.

I honestly believe that as the years go by, mostly everything will eventually get released.

I know and have worked with a lot of musicians, who have released many albums, usually have a "cult" following, done commercial work, etc.. yet they still have to hold down one, if not two "real" jobs to fund their recordings.

But.. ya know.. sometimes when you don't have something.. and want something REALLY BAD, constantly working towards a goal, the end result far surpases your wildest dreams.

Hans Joachim Roedelius. He used to be in German outfit Cluster. Got a few of his solo albums 'Bastionen der Liebe' on vinyl which has him singing with nice flutes and treated piano. Must dig that out again!!!!
