Most calming BoC track?
My vote goes to "Opening the Mouth". It's almost hypnotizing. Can and has helped me get in a near-meditative state. Polar opposite to "One Very Important Thought", which has this haunting, "impending doom" quality to it, especially at the chord change around "if you could be told..." in conjunction with its message.
2nd place would go to Julie and Candy (which happens to be my favorite BoC track ever), just because it feels like it comes from a place where everything makes sense and everything is alright...everything just comes together. It flows like a river and gives off a feeling like time has almost stopped and you're just there in the moment. OtM takes this to 11. It kinda reminds me of Zelda: Majora's Mask, when you play the song of time and go back to the dawn of the first day.
3rd place is maybe You Could Feel The Sky, because of the percussion mostly and the main drone-ish atmosphere, that or maybe Everything You Do is A Balloon, for its melody.

Okay, thanks. I'll check it out.North by North wrote:BoC Boom Bop remix: “Last Walk Around Mirror Lake" on From Left to Right, Boom Bip, May 2003Rodheh wrote:I do not have this track to my recollection. What is it on?zeoevil wrote:Last Walk Around Mirror Lake.
Although I kinda meant original BoC tracks and not remixes. It's okay though.

I want this played at my funeral.
EDIT: I would honestly call it a BoC track as it has entirely its own feel.
Well I didn't mean it like that. Dead Dogs Two has a BoC feel, but if it's a remix I'd rather hear about original BoC tracks.zeoevil wrote:Rodheh wrote:I do not have this track to my recollection. What is it on?zeoevil wrote:Last Walk Around Mirror Lake.

At this time, I would like to point out that, as far as I know, there is no other version of Last Walk. Therefore, although it appears on someone else's album, it is a Boards of Canada track.Rodheh wrote:Well I didn't mean it like that. EDIT: Well, that didn't take long. It is on Seed to Sun, but as far as I know, the two songs are totally different.
Well if you're so adamant about it, what AFTER that would you consider to be their most calming?zeoevil wrote:At this time, I would like to point out that, as far as I know, there is no other version of Last Walk. Don't mistake my opinion for adamance. I just feel the song is its own work and not a remix in the traditional sense.Rodheh wrote:Well if you're so adamant about it, what AFTER that would you consider to be their most calming?

I'm not mistaking anything. I mean I just stated I wasn't really talking about remixes so you could have given another answer at that point but you wanted to go on about that one song.zeoevil wrote:Don't mistake my opinion for adamance. Fair enough. I won't belabor the point. Clearly, it is your thread and you make the rules. My honest answer to your inquiry obviously violated some hitherto unrevealed rule about what is and is not a song written and performed by Boards of Canada. From now on, I will try to not violate the sanctity of your threads with my honest and well-meaning answers to your super serious threads.Rodheh wrote:I'm not mistaking anything. I will now go stick my head in a pie. Cheers.
