Just watched Buffalo 66 - lovely film.

Just watched the film Collapse about Michael Ruppert, a former police officer and investigative journalist, labelled a conspiracy theorist and 'doomer' because of his views on peak oil, overpopulation, environmental degradation, economic collapse and so on.
Now familiar stuff to anyone taking an interest in the world over the past decade, but it's compelling viewing anyway, someone who has essentially sacrificed himself to his obsession and you end up thinking, if he's even half right, we're completely fucked. He talks about why we're screwed and what you can do about it after the collapse.
Sadly, now rendered poignant by the fact that he killed himself in April this year.
Anyway, mentioned it on this thread because I'd speculate that it's almost certainly an influence on Tomorrow's Harvest.
Reminded me of the books Endgame parts 1 and 2 by Derrick Jensen and documentary 'What a Way to Go - Life at the End of Empire (which Jensen appears in), which preceded Collapse and touches on the same topics. Both of which I thoroughly recommend, by the way.
I wondered at the time of TH's release if Endgame was an influence as well.

I'm sure BoC are influenced in a way by many of these subjects. I do wonder what their source is because there are numerous books and documentaries out there. All in the same atmosphere.

The other day I watched The Collective Evolution III and it put it all in a nice perspective without forcing the viewer into the same think pattern.
More and more people are waking up from the sleep we have been in and all the changes to the industry that took place over the past 50 years.

I also posted about the award winning documentary "Why in the world are they spraying". Put your conspiracy thinkers hate aside and watch this. I've always put off chemtrails as conspiracy stuff but NASA now admits to chemtrails.

I gotta say, every time I watch one of these sort of documentaries, I always feel incredibly inspired. I just really want to change everything I do. But it fades away, and I just kinda go back to doing everything the way I'm used to, because it's easier of course. It kinda worries me.

A documentary where everything and not very much happens in a Welsh village to an Aphex Twin soundtrack. Sad and touching and lovely.

Just watched this. Really quite good! The Aphex Twin soundtrack seemed a bit off-putting to me (Avril 14th played multiple times, and always cut off in weird ways, as well as other similar tracks). However, the person I watched the film with, someone who hasn't heard much of Aphex Twin at all, disagreed and found that the soundtrack worked for her. So there's that.

Either way, really well done. Subject matter covered in a somewhat documentary fashion, but filmed cinematically and beautifully. Esp. good if you don't mind gorgeous but very long and slow-moving scenes.

SLC Punk is a fantastic film that's not really about punk rock, you don't nessicarily have to be interested in punk to like it, it's more of a character study of one guy who wants to rebel and see chaos in the world around him, really worth it for Matthew Lillard's fantastic performance.
Also, Peter Jackson's Dead Alive is one of the most entertaining zombie films I've ever seen, with brilliantly tongue-in cheek cheese from the start.
And The Damned United may just have Michael Sheen's best role to date.

Another lesser known: Sleepwalk With Me (and also the accompanying comedy album by Mike Birbiglia).

Yet another lesser known: Big Fan

Also, two far better known yet not viewed by everyone: Ghost in the Shell and THX 1138.

And if you want something really moving, check out Grave of the Fireflies. One of the greatest animated WWII pictures.

I cannot recommend these films enough. Also regarding documentaries, if you're a Star Wars fan like I am, take a look at The People vs. George Lucas if you hadn't already. It's a tad bit biased, but it's a good documentary.

absolutely THX 1138. i'd say its one of his best. BTW - if you watch American Graffiti - the license plate on Harrison Ford's car is THX 1138 - a nod to the film which was originally his UCLA final project and if you buy the 25th anniv. edition DVD, his film school 20 min. version is in the extras.

check disney and pixar films...they all have A113 tucked away in the film somewhere. in a lot of films for that matter. a secret little nod to the animation classroom at the California Institute of the Arts.
