Basefree is honestly one of the most exciting parts of the album for me with the way that it morphs as the song progresses. I honestly skip over Twoism more than any other track hahaha.WeHadNormality wrote:Next to Chinook, Basefree is probably my least favorite BoC track tbh. Probably because, like you said, it's not there usual style. I usually skip it when I'm listening to Twoism. To me it sound more like R&S era Aphex or maybe early Autechre which isn't a bad thing at all. Just doesn't sound like BoC that much imo.Basefree wrote:Basefree
Why is this track's existence completely forgotten? It's a total detour from their usual style and sits in the middle of Twoism, so it's not exactly hidden.

I consider Zeotrope as the quintessential "underdog" track in their discography. The one that's "underrated" but not really underrated because it's always brought up somehow haha. It always comes up in threads like this, as it is a bit of a difficult piece. Glorious song.

Hi Scores is too often forgotten about in general, bar EYDIAB.Rodheh wrote:I probably have said Nlogax about ten times already, but Nlogax.
Also, Spectrum is one of the best 'serious' tracks (or rather, non-filler tracks) on Old Tunes.
If I recall correctly, there was a mixtape on DatPiff or somewhere where this guy rapped over all the Hi Scores tracks and it sounded fantastic, it's like the hip-hop album BoC never quite made.

oh, here's a special track for you:
audiotrack 09 side B of that "35 track tape" or other... signaling the 1hr mark or 60 minutes... boc and their numerology, and what a happy little number it is.

I think Zander Two is incredibly underrated, I barely see any mention of it around these here places

Audiotrack B12. The percussion in this track is interesting, and I really like the main melody. Barely ever see it mentioned.
B16 aswell, although I see it mentioned a bit more.

Audiotrack 14a
Sounds like a dark disco track and really unlike most of their work - very 80s, a bit more like their Hell Interface stuff but I like this more.
I love the way the drums come in on an unexpected beat. Feels like it's got somewhere else to go but they weren't sure where, so left it as it was...

I never see any love for Sick Times. I think it's good, and has a lot of layers and hidden sounds. Interesting, airy percussion as well.
I also don't see anyone mentioning Semena Mertvykh. That song genuinely scares me, even after listening to it dozens of times. Not many songs can do that, and the only one that I can think of that makes me instinctively press skip (not because it's skippable, but because I don't feel comfortable listening to it) is The Devil is in the Details.

I too think Sick Times is very underrated. Anyone catch the "thank you", "goodbye/night" sample in there?

Re: Underrated BoC songs
My assumption stems from the fact that I haven't seen anyone else comment on it, ever. Even when I've commented in the past no one concurred.Najlepsiejszy wrote:The thank you sample is IMPOSSIBLE to miss
Maybe a bit naive of me, but you can see how I could make that assumption while absent mindedly posting with a hangover lol.
