You are Hitler. You are clearly without love. You frighten me.

Genesis 9:7: "And you, be fruitful and multiply, increase greatly on the earth and multiply in it.”

There is enough material to go around for everyone many many times over. It's greed and power that should be fixed, not life itself! Most western people have material goods that could have fed them for many years. Televisions the size of walls, computers and cellphones that are many times more powerful then the equipment that got people on the moon (so we can laugh at pictures of cats). We are willing to starve out families in third world countries if it means they can see another episode of The Walking Dead on Netflix in full HD. You are clearly fine with killing millions of people if it means you can continue wasting whatever you want and not be bothered by other humans. I'd like to be satisfied with some rice and beans, water, bed, flute, some paper and a pen....one day!

Also, everytime we go to the toilet we pee and shit in our own drinking water. Systematically. There are no other animals on the planet that do that except for us, save for what lives under water.

Reducing the population will only allow more materials to be wasted on the ones that are left, the ones that don't appreciate life.

And I'm not a hippie, only a genious.

Hold your horses Cupz, who are you to talk about 3rd world struggles? living in Netherlands, where salaries probably 5 bigger than in my country, still my life quality probably 200 higher than in Africa, understand. Still those people who are saying that progress and technology are the main problem in western world are so out of touch with reality, for me, first of all this common not only in the West, look at India, China etc, where progress is in full forward, even mother land Russia are on this course. It is funny then my western friends are looking for savior on other side of globe, still this is probably normal, I'm looking for something else also. It's like when you are feeding with one form of truth all your life and finally have a glimpse that there's different way of life, this is a good feeling.

War can only good when the outcome of not having the war would be worse. But it's impossible to look into the future. Everything that can by solved by wars can also be solved by other means. Unfortunately (especially when religion is involved in some way) some people think acts of war/terrorism are the best option. World peace and extremist views cannot coexist.

most fucking ignorant comment I've ever read. obviously written by someone that doesn't understand life and death and consequences, from a sheltered life.

fuck the second amendment. americans obviously are not responsible enough to carry weapons.
What a convincing argument.

As long as there are people there always be war and fights sad-fully. You'd expect that we as humanity become smarter and more understanding but in contrary, it divides us more and more
That's because humans are meant to be divided. It's natural. We have adapted to be an instinctually competitive species, and there's nothing wrong with that. You can try to transcend your instinct but it's never going to work : you will always be controlled by it. The Tower of Babel explains that much better than I can. Nature has a way of maintaining an equilibrium at all times, and when humans start acting as one mind things get out of hand very quickly. Unfortunately, that's what's starting to happen at the moment, but hopefully it won't continue for very long.

God damn, that was the most clichéd and predictable thing I've read on this site, right down to the parenthetical reference to cat photos. Good work, my man.

Ditto what Cupz said. Too many people have forgotten how shit it was and how lucky they are to be in a position to forget.

Some forget. Some just don't appreciate perhaps. It's one thing knowing something, it's another to understand it.

Actually, despite what most people believe, the evidence points to most humans being pretty un-warlike and becoming less so, thanks to political, social and technological progress.
Again, despite what most people believe, we are a complex species that sees the benefit in both competition and co-operation.
The vast, vast, vast majority of human interactions are entirely peaceful - thousands, if not millions, of interactions in your local area in the time it takes to read this, compared to the violent interactions that take up but a portion of your local and national news media. Think about it. Most non-sociopathic humans are reluctant to take another life and need to be de-sensitised through training to do so.
Sure, base instincts are not far from the surface when we or our families are threatened, but that is exactly as it should be. It's important to distinguish between violence resulting from a social breakdown and struggle for resources, and war.
Most wars in recorded history are started by small groups at the top of the social pyramid and benefit only them - power, resource and land grabs. People follow for various psychological and social reasons and are slaughtered, maimed and traumatised en masse by the process.
This is entirely avoidable with the right social and political structures, as history also shows, and is also entirely within our nature and not somehow oppressive of our natural selves, a notion that is social darwinist twaddle, pushed by sociopaths and narcissists in power who benefit from everyone believing we're just like them.
Buying into the idea of war is buying into an unnatural and dangerous mindset, the idea that human suffering can be rationalised away. The pain you would feel at the death of family or friends, the difficulty you would have in directly taking another human life - that is what is real, universal and human.
Technological and social progress takes the pressures away that trigger our defensive mechanisms and potential for violence. While wars are started by the few, it is our collective responsibility to maintain that progress, those political checks and balances, the buffers against inequality, maintenance of our natural resources.

Good points, jcnporter. The peaceful instincts that define humanity are unfortunately the more harmful ones. I wish more people would understand that most humans aren't their friends.

Blimey it must be bleak though?!? I thought I was depressed about humanity but my misanthropy is positively miniscule in comparison. I feel for you.

I'm not a misanthrope, I just don't care about people I've never met. I don't spend time hating people, I just don't think about them. I don't know why so many people feel differently. I do like most people I meet and think angry cynics like my father are annoying and need to lighten up, but that doesn't change the fact that humanity becomes a terrifying force when united in such large numbers.

At least I don't consistently act like I'm better than anyone who dares to disagree with me on political issues.
