Do we have a good sense of Boards' musical influences around this time period? Autechre and co.?
Of note: the lead instrument on Geyser is reversed. Un-reversed it sounds like someone playing a shoddy organ synth

It was released in 1994, around the same time as R35TT is speculated to have been released as well and only a couple years before Twoism. I definitely hear similarities between this leak and those two releases.kube wrote:Shite camcorder quality / lathe cut aside: I agree with folks that this is very plausibly Boards.

It's entirely plausible. 100 records pressed, 100 cassettes pressed, it had to have ended up somewhere. And it sounds like Boards of Canada too.Decorah wrote:Not trying to diffuse the excitement here but what, precisely, is giving people the idea this is anything but a really good fake with some additional effort creating vinyl for it? The sounds are there, I admit, but we've been down this road plenty of times before with the same end result. Why is it different now?

Agree. This is by far the most likely explanation. But then I don't believe these pre-Twoism albums exist at all (or at least were created after they had some success and wanted to embellish their mystery).SamuraiDrifter wrote:I think it's a fake, albeit a pretty good one.

I was in the "they don't exist" camp. But the bros themselves have directly addressed them in interviews (found somewhere on bocpage), said they do exist, but in the hands of trusted people, though they expected them to be leaked at some point. So I'm not so quick to dismiss it actually happening, though it is surprising that it has taken this long .babylulu wrote:i really don’t think they had the foresight to create fake albums for an added mystique. they’re relatively normal guys

I think it's entirely in keeping with their mischievous and playful humour.babylulu wrote:i really don’t think they had the foresight to create fake albums for an added mystique. they’re relatively normal guys
