This got mad interesting overnight. I'm enjoying the songs quite a bit, on my third listen now.
If it's fake he thought about an explanation for everything and if it's real he sure made it look suspicious. This is exciting to follow regardless, so thank you, James.

It was released in 1994, around the same time as R35TT is speculated to have been released as well and only a couple years before Twoism. I definitely hear similarities between this leak and those two releases.

Not trying to diffuse the excitement here but what, precisely, is giving people the idea this is anything but a really good fake with some additional effort creating vinyl for it? The sounds are there, I admit, but we've been down this road plenty of times before with the same end result. Why is it different now?

It's entirely plausible. 100 records pressed, 100 cassettes pressed, it had to have ended up somewhere. And it sounds like Boards of Canada too.

Somebody earlier has said it doesn't sound like the Old Tunes volumes, therefore it is probably a fake. But Twoism does not sound like them either, it has a very distinct, hazy instrumental hip hop sound of it's own. Hooper Bay sounding the way this leak sounds makes entire sense. It's a wintery, ambient soundscape with some downtempo elements. It has a certain level of consistency and subtlety that fakes often lack. I understand the hesitation though, if Twoism were to leak today, people would be calling bullshit left and right. The immediate skepticism is going to simmer, MDG may or may not make a statement, and it'll eventually be accepted as a legitimate leak. I feel it is actually the beginning of the full back catalogue releasing.

Fair enough but I think that just makes it a less obvious fake. Some of the tidbits we do know about HB could've totallly been used towards creating this. I need more, personally. The totally shitty quality of the video doesn't help, even though some are saying it's intentional to fit the BoC vibe.

Whoever made this, and I truly do hope it's BoC and this is real, did a fucking stellar job with side B in particular. Noatak/Point Hope are quite good.

Agree. This is by far the most likely explanation. But then I don't believe these pre-Twoism albums exist at all (or at least were created after they had some success and wanted to embellish their mystery).

I was in the "they don't exist" camp. But the bros themselves have directly addressed them in interviews (found somewhere on bocpage), said they do exist, but in the hands of trusted people, though they expected them to be leaked at some point. So I'm not so quick to dismiss it actually happening, though it is surprising that it has taken this long .

I think it's entirely in keeping with their mischievous and playful humour.

What's the alternative scenario? That by the time they were making fairly amateurish demo tapes/CDs to send round record labels (e.g. BOC Maxima) they had already released several albums on CD, vinyl and cassette in numbers of up to 200 each and not one single photo, let alone actual music, has ever surfaced from these? That over nearly 30 years they have managed to keep 200 or more people sworn to secrecy because one day they would have a mysterious reputation to uphold? Come on.
