I LOVE NEW WAVE AND POST-PUNK

The genres that just keep on giving. I can always go back there.

Question though... why no synthpop?

Synthpop should be okay in this thread. I just find it quite a hard genre to pin down in the 80s. If you have any examples, post!

Synthpop to me would be this, but its also just called New Wave. All of this is confusing! AAAAAAAAAAA

Yeah, I mean I'd respect the request not to put synthpop in here except I feel like there's just a lot of overlap between new wave and synthpop, like... a LOT of it. At least to me! Maybe others have a more accurate read on it than me, but I know if I posted some favorites in here SOMEONE would be like "UM ACTUALLY that's synthpop" and then I'd feel big dumb

New Wave is a bit of a salad genre, but the way I see it is New Wave has its roots in rock and punk, whereas Synthpop is electronic first. Synthpop is an ingredient in New Wave, but it's still its own genre. I just think the rock side of it gets a little overlooked sometimes.

Speaking of a salad...

Fine well if we're allowing synthpop, this is at the New Wave end of synthpop, I've always thought

By the way, does this give anyone else Inferno vibes?

No, but I assumed they were a 90s rave/hardcore techno band before trying to get into them years ago.
