You're not wrong, but this is kind of the new norm right? It's both a response to a long-standing trend and the inevitable continuation of that trend. Look at the increase in wildfires and record setting temperatures over the last decade or more.

Is it just me or is BOC doing this thing here where they're taking the emergent harmonic resonances of the sounds in this music and then building melodies around them so that when you hear the texture of a synth your ear catches an apparent melody that's in its harmonic resonances, then actually builds up melody around it?

I don't know if I'm making sense, but more than their other albums, Inferno seems to intentionally use texture like this to foreshadow and reprise melodic progression.
