'pi' off the new kate bush album made me cry tonight. way i see it as long as there's still music that can make me cry, i'm doing just fine.

the first track that ever made me cry was strawberry fields forever; i remember it clearly.

it's a fucking amazing album. worth the wait.

and i'd still do her, at 55 or whatever age she is :lol:

I've had a few make me cry. It all depends on my mood. Some BoC tracks that usually get to me are:

Corsair
Peacock Tail
Dawn Chorus
5-9-78
Sac

Seems like some of these should do just the opposite for me, seeing how they sound happy, but they have a bittersweet sound to me for some reason. Like I said though, it alternates depending on my mood. There's a BoC song for every mood

Vordhosbn by Aphex Twin really does it to me.

A particular song that always gets me is Schubert's Ave Maria. I can't help but cry when I hear it. When I first started playing Pump It Up at my arcade, I noticed a song called Maria and picked it not knowing it was the Ave Maria. I had a hard time finishing it :lol:

One of my favorite things to do is go outside on a night with a full moon and lots of stars and lie down at the top of the hill with my CD player and just stare at the sky while I listen to music. Either that or I'll go for a walk in the moonlight. I live out in the country so its totally quiet and everything is lit up a beautiful bluish light. The impact of music on me multiplies tenfold when I do this. I was once listening to Lovely Lovely Lovely by Thanatos and it made me feel so happy I just took off running down the road and into a huge field where I sat down and looked at the lights from houses way out in the distance. I ended up falling asleep down there for a while. When I woke up, Aphex Twin's "Tree" was playing. Waking up in the back of a large field near the woods at 3 in the morning while hearing that song is pretty creepy. I hurried back home XD

Gotta love how music can manipulate emotions and moods

a silver mt. zions 13 angels is amazing! i was listening to that yesterday. i dont listen to them very often because of the emotional impact that album has on me. i dont think is healthy for my state of mind. i really should check out the rest of their albums. i definitly prefer them to god speed you black emperor (although they are also very good)

'spectrum' never made me cry as such, but it still has tremendous emotional power. I get an immense sense of regret and longing when listening to it. i don't know what it is about it, its inexplainable.

'dead alive' by japanese seizure robots has a similar effect.

one song that made me cry is 'winter is blues' which is a bonus track on vashti bunyans first album 'just another diamond day'

i've also had a strange occurrence with the smallest weird number. i often get thousands of thoughts racing through my mind whilst listening to BOC, but in specific this song is to do with an unfamiliar emotion. its hard to explain, it feels like stations above my mind, it has an overwhelming futurism likeness attached to it, i think stations would be the most appropriate word to use...i wish i could explain the imagery...

Julie and Candy is a sensitive song for me. It was playing on a morning that I wasn't suppose to wake up.

I guess all of BOC's makes me think. Happy or sad, It's this feeling that I'm alive.

Though most of the comments are posted long ago, I still want to add some words to this topic.

It's really nice to read all these comments.
Makes me feel not so odd or strange in the way I sometimes experience music.
Some BoC tracks made me cry also. Corsair is a great example.

I think I was real young (about 4 of 5 years old) when I first cried just by hearing music. I know my father told a sad story to me, to back up the music we were listening to at the moment. Little did he know that he would see me crying my ass of just a few moments later. The story my father told (he's a gifted storyteller I would say) suddenly opened my eyes in experiencing music at a complete new and different level.
After that tearpulling experience I cried numerous times. So did the guitar solo, in the end of the track 'Shout' from 'Tears of Fears' pulled a couple of tears back in the days.

Ulrich Schnauss also does it for me. Lots of his tracks are soaked with emotion.' A million miles away' made my cry like a little baby. I was in a difficult time then, and ' A million miles away' just opened a door to reach for my emotion. Music can help me with that, because most of the time I'm bit of a closed person, and wouldn't show or let go emotions that easily.

Peacock Tail is one of those tracks that makes me unable to not smile. Whenever the 4+3 measure pattern comes back around, I just grin again. It's one of those songs that I've actually sung to, because I can't let the beauty I feel stay inside me.

Great description of Tears.

Interesting story: I brought TCH to work once, and my supervisor played it on the office radio. I sit across from him, so, while I'm usually staring intently at my screen, it is possible for him to see my face.. When the CD got to Farewell Fire, it struck a deep chord in my soul... my eyes started tearing up--it was all I could do to fight back the tears so my supervisor didn't notice...

There is a very interesting research which was held to see how people respond to the music of Gescom.
Let me quote a little piece out of this research.

Very interesting, Aesthetics. This kind of stuff amazes me. By the way, Flim is in my top three made-me-weep tracks, although I sort of ruined the effect by listening to it too much.

Whitewater has gotten me all teary eyed. Makes me feel alone and wishing I had a friend to share this music with.
Sir Prancelot Brainfire had such a huge impact on me the first time I heard it, I was going to tough times.
The last minute of Shell of light by burial makes me feel so light.

And once, while I was raking leaves on a mountain cottage out in Virginia, I got to thinking of my mom while "Roads must roll", my boom bip, played. I weeped pretty decent.
