Creating your own sound is a process that evolves using someone elses.. Everyone does it, including BOC.Cupz wrote:With the technology now-a-day´s every loser with a computer can make a track with warbly synths.
I´m not saying none of them have talent, I´m just saying they don´t really WANT to create their own sound.
Boards of Canada (or the fine-tuning of their efforts over the yrs, rather) resulted in the creative re-creation of a "decayed" era (the inception and pioneering of electronica) through their music and imagery. Their emotional & musical baggage (fooling around and experimenting with sounds at their primitive stages and modern beats) and the fact that their music is just plain GOOD, happened to strike chords and tug heartstrings... Now, where BOC captured an era, BOC fans and "clones" are capturing BOC. THAT is the BOC legacy (I like to refer to it as their "higher calling" of some sorts).
Artists who emulate BOC are all gifted in their own way. However, digging deep to find out who you're truly about and how other ppl will relate to your being and your art and what could perhaps spawn from that may have nothing to do with warbly synths and a computer...

This might be a silly theory but i thought of it last night... they seemed to be really psyched on dayvan cowboy and the more guitar driven style of the campfire headphase. but the reactions to that song and album were quite mixed. lots of people have expressed their hatred towards that sound and lots of reviewers were somewhat unimpressed. i wonder if the brothers took that into account and rethought their writing process? i can see that taking quite long, but im sure no matter what the reason is, the album will be incredible. even if my theory is untrue, and they dont give a crap what other people think, it's gotta be hard to progress their sound from where they are at this point. something tells me their shoegaze influence will shine through most brightly on this next one. i bet they took a well deserved break for a couple of years and are hard at work on it right now.

I hope they do something completely unexpected and totally new.
Loveless was pushed back for years and years and the end result was spectacular. I eagerly await their next work but I don't want it rushed.

I love TCH. Can't cater to everyone's desires. What can be said about their Solange collab then?

I love BOC. I wont be crushed if they never release anything ever again. They music is timeless.
Also, there are so many new amazing artists that distract me from BOC more and more. There is so much new amazing music coming in 2009 that I don't even care about BOC releasing anything new. But if they do I will be super pumped for sure. I'm just happy that they even ever put any music out in the first place.
We could be BOC-less. Now think about that.
