i'm a fan of the genre but there's more dubstep i don't like than dubstep i do like
Completely agree. I like stuff like Martyn etc. but some of it's just too damn grimy for me!

Burial is more about the syncopated beats and atmosphere within the track as opposed to the warbling basslines...
Artists on Tempa and Planet Mu are great examples and trendsetters in the genre; like Benga, Boxcutter, Skream & Vex'd. The new Harmonic 313 album on Warp is heavily dubstep influenced as well.

Yeah that Harmonic 313 album is indeed a good one.

I'll check out these recommendations.

take it from a noob. Skream is the shit. i have a couple of the "Skreamizm" EP's, and they are really good. i really like the song "Lightning" on "Skreamizm 1". i recommend it.
i think the darker the dubstep, the better the dubstep, i.e. Distance. his LP "My Demons" is also worth a spin.
cheers!

I'm not big into dubstep, although Harmonic 313 and Skream are my favourites. Quite like Benga's 'Diary Of An Afro Warrior' album as well.
Check these out:
Skream - 2D > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRJVTloh00Y
and
Skream - Tek-A-Pill > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEkcjU2X ... re=related
And yeah, more dubstep i don't like here as well (especially the stuff that gets played on BBC 1Xtra). A lot of it, for me, is already sounding quite samey.
Oh yeah, almost forgot this link:
Skream - Stagger > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83kWjzgNbNA
Some class tunes by Skream, check them out if you have the time

yup, check out the tempa label. Skream is a kid about my age but he pretty much invented the genre. Benga is a friend of his, they have some sweet collabs as well. Listening to dubstep makes me want to break things/start a riot, so I rarely listen to that stuff. Good, but not usually suiting my mood.

'26 Basslines' is, imho, one of the best dubstep tracks ever... Unreal on a top soundsystem.
