These are just stock video images? I think some of the fan videos are better than this.
I mean the first half was interesting but they didnt even film it.
I hate to say it, but I think I agree with you. :? Now remember, I only watched it once and it was on that tiny Windows Media player so I'm hoping to get the full effect once I actually have the DVD. I know they have way better, grainy, old school films they've done for their music probably locked away in the Hex Sun studios. The first part is cool, but the surfing at the end is just cheesy. Makes me think of a Capri Sun commercial or something. I'm hoping my mind will change...

yeah, i agree. it's a bit of a let down.aswell as being stock footage, it's an overtly 'hippie' video. i though they would have been a little more discreet. and what about the
hallucination of falling through hell? why was it even spoke of?

Man this doesnt come often from the dirty mouth of Archrival when it comes to BOC..but bloody hell, I even liked my Macuarie Ridge video better!!!

...seriously, this was lazy...I wanted more own footage...are BOC taking the piss?

just wait until you see my other TCH videos...they are better than Slow This Bird Down and MR..

Im sorry to say this, and its the first time I ever said this about BOC material, well its really Olsons fault (not the brothers) but this is a major dissapointment

Yeah, let's just hope the music on the ep is better than the video.

true. im sure the music will make up for it, but it's fairly ridiculous,
they could have forked out another couple of quid.
i'm afraid that any time i listen to dayvan cowboy now, all i'll see is
dolphins and dudes falling off surfboards... tubular :?

high expectations can ruin anything.
were you guys expecting the chris cunnigham cutting-edge style in a more BOC super 8 fashion?
i personally thing its a good video. ok, the surfer thingy might be a little cheesy but overall i think it suits the music pretty well.
let's hope for more to come in the future.

This is the first properly released video Boc have done so the standard is outrageously high. Maybe if they would've released other videos in the past, we would'nt think this is so bad? Are we expecting to much from them?

The only part I liked was the last camera shot.
I have to agree

well not entirely, i quite liked it, not so much at first but i could tell by the music and the fact the clouds were coming up, that he was going to come through at that moment and it made me smile, but a little predictable.

Really liked some of the water footage but on the whole as a BOC Video FFS it should have been MIND BLOWGING!!

then again guys we love their music, maybe theyre just not too hot at video when it comes down to it.

they should have launched a fan video competition and we could all have voted, in fact lets do it lets have a twoism comp, all do a video for whitewater, and winner gets the new TCH??

I think that might be the case. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation, but I think I figured out one angle to look at it. If this video were part of a larger concept, perhaps a video to accompany the entire album, maybe people would be looking at it differently. :?:

ok so i finally watched it...and i must say...i am left with feeling several things...

one...i love how well the video footage goes with the gentle jumping out of the balloon...
the whole decent to earth is fantastic...however im not quite understanding the surf boarders...

i think maybe it has something to do with combining the surf and sky together...uniting all thats around us...the way it is edited it looks as though the man who jumped out of the balloon came up ot of the water with a surf board....haha i know thats not the case its just the way its edited...

but if you put the video in context with the whole theme of TCH album then it paints a much better picture...

i will say i was hoping for more...but i cant say that i am really let down...it is beautiful video with a gorgeous blue color scheme...the editing is nice and the footage fits there music...very stock looking, documentary type shots...

i hope this isnt their last video but for there first it is nice...

derail has great points in the sense that A.) i am watching it on windows media player...and not on a big screen with a dvd quality sound and picture. and B.) you know BoC has much better videos hidden somewhere...

today is my birthday so i couldnt really get a better birthday gift....thanks BoC....
8 out of 10...

Happy Birthday The Other :D

I can see how people are having mixed feelings about the video. Not me though cause I think its great. Here are my reasons:
1. the theme of the great outdoors is central to the very spirt of BOC and the use of sky, sea and light is therefore conceptually spot on.
2. the integration of these elements is perfect with the texture of clouds uniting beautifully with those of water.
3. The very genesis of BOC comes from the inspiration of the visual world and how others have portrayed it - namely the national Film board of Canada. So it is entirely appropriate that they should use film stock as well. Pink floyd did it with Crystal Voyager and Eno did it with the moon landings in Apollo - atmospheres and soundtracks, so why noy BOC
4. In my mind BOC has attracted extreme sports types when they want to chill after snowboarding or surfing (correct me if this demographic is wide of the mark) so using the surfer stuff fits as well.
5. The images sync well with the music. A flawed beauty in both.
6. I work in the arts and a sometimes freelance art critic so I know what i'm talking about

I mean the first half was interesting but they didnt even film it... To me it just looked like someone took public domain footage and layered it on a Mac for some school project. The only part I liked was the last camera shot.
Some people are just never satisfied.

yeah its ok. i dont really know what i was expecting from the vid, but i think they should have done a vid for Skyliner instead as have been listening to that none stop..
i can see why it was done this way so it could be shown at anytime on mtv, its a kinda ordinary vid.
but prob will look better on dvd as derail said, its only a small video.
