what is the meaning and the point of this word - twoism?

Post by soulsonic »

so do anyone have an idea of what does this word mean, or what is the point of this word, because it's obvious that it has something to do with number two. the ending -ism ussually means a dedication to something. so is this some kind of a dedication to number two?

it all probably sounds quite stupid, but i was just thinking.

A play on the word "truism".

...think of how a little kid would say it.

It means using both hands at the same time. Most of us can only do it with one.

Probably something to do with the duality of life

e.g. Good and Evil, God and Satan, Yin and Yang

Yeah it deems like it should be a word similar to duality to me.

exactly.

boc's music sometimes points to god and the devil as being one and the same.

hm yeah it makes sense, good version.

the reason why i got interested in this, is because whenever i think about the meaning of number two it looks like it's all around me: i used to be number two in our shchool class journal, now i'm number two in my college group journal, i've released an album on label called "two circles records", and now i've found this website related to one of my favourite albums called "twoism". it would have been crazy if one of my tracks was in "one on twoism vol.2". but on the other hand it's probably me who's following this number unconciously.

I always thought it came from Taoism.

Two is the first number to provide the essence of numbers, as being many. It is the smallest possible division to be made. All things can be reduced to two seperate parts before everything in existence becomes one indeterminate whole.

All of the above but also there's two of them. Compared to three when Chris was involved.

i'm pretty sure it has to do with love. just look at the cover of twoism and watch "the killings at outpost zeta".

if you have any doubts on this, just listen to the lyrics of sixtyniner. sometimes things dont have to be so mysterious when being part of BoC.

BTW, thanks for this thread. its made me listen to twoism for the first time in months ^_^

I think it's all open to your own interpretation. I know what it means.

I think anything could be open to your own interpretation, but not everything is, ussually everything has an explanation. I agree that "twoism" may not be classified in category of anything, but i wanted to share my interpretations about it, and hear other opinions.

According to what you are saying, you don't actualy know what it means, it's just your own interpretation, otherwise you are a member of Boards of Canada, or close friend/relative to them.
