I have not seen Sequoia get the credit it deserves on this website as one of BoC's dopest tracks ever.

Well, I think In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country as an EP is an overrated part of their discography, and I like Trans Canada Highway more.

As for tracks, I rarely hate a BoC song, but I've always hated "Open The Light."

Also, I like "Roygbiv," but I've never understood why it's so popular ...

Pretty impressive for them, still, to see their name next to West just makes me cringe! Does this mean BoC have gone pop!? I'm a biased fanboy so my opinion might mean nothing, but I think BoC is the kind of band that's not famous enough to be mainstream, but just famous enough for Pop music fans ...

I think you could argue Tears From The Compound Eye is in 10/4 or 5/2. With beat emphasis like whole note, dotted whole note.

A lot of their beatless music could be argued to be in free time and have no time signature. Stuff like Corsair, Into The Rainbow Vein, etc.

Sunshine Recorder sounds like it's in 6/4. Really I hear it as 4/4 + 2/4 every measure.

tfw you've only heard a small fraction of BoC's true discography.

One of the things I noticed off of TH is that a lot of the tracks use a synth sound that has a timbre similar to trumpets or brass. Like "Cold Earth", "Sick Times", "Split Your Infinities", but especially "Semena Mertvykh".

If you listen to the sound in "Semena Mertvykh" that comes in around 1:30 ...

Also, when you wait and anticipate for an album, you develop a lot of expectations and hopes like "Oh I hope they'll have a track like this" and when you listen to it, there's always some sort of disappointment when your hopes don't come true. I hate when people compare Black Moth Super Rainbow to BoC.

BoC keep it real and speak their mind naturally through music. BMSR do have some good tracks, but I don't like bands who have that "look how quirky and lo-fi we are" image. It just feels so contrived.

I'm a bit too skeptical to hope for any BoC really. I mean, with all the stuff that happens, like mdg saying it will come out 2010, then that goddamn black box, etc. and nothing happens for years, I just don't like sitting there hoping and thinking wishfully.
